Day 2--into Virginia

We are in the mountains and Kathy is much, much happier. I mean, look at this view in western North Carolina.

We crossed over into east Tennessee (and thought of Nita!) and drove through there for a while and then crossed over into Virginia. This is a big state. We've been driving through it forever. The main goal this afternoon was to get to the Shenandoah National Park and drive the bottom third of the Skyline Parkway. It's hard to keep the truck at 35 mph when you are going down a mountain, but the views are awesome!

That was our view as I was practicing my driving skills on the twisting roads. This is how Marcia wanted to see the scenery on the roads:

She doesn't have enough life insurance for me to let her do that. There were lots of motorcycles on the road though. We didn't see any wildlife, though we heard a lot of birds. I can see why this area would be so beautiful when the leaves change.

Got to the hotel a little after 5, checked in, went to eat and now are watching the last of the UF baseball game (saw other parts of it at Applebees). The day was a little longer than I had planned and we've had two long days on the road, so time to relax a bit.
