Another Sanctuary
Yep, another sanctuary. I never realized we had so many this close to us. This one is in Williston, about 30 minutes away. It's called "Two Tails" and Elaine organized a big group of us to go in late February (I think--can't remember dates). Turned out to be the same day as a bunch of little kids on a trip for a birthday party, so it was a full group of people that day. The sanctuary has several different kinds of animals, but the big thing is elephants. Yes, we have elephants right here in north Florida.
The most famous of them is Luke. He's been with the owner/trainer since he was a couple of years old.
He paints:
And he does tricks:
The one they take to festivals and things is a sweetie. You could buy some carrots and feed her. Some of the little kids thought it was great and some little kids screamed in terror and ran. This big kid thought it was a wonderful thing to get so close to such a wonderful creature:
We also visited the emus, ostriches, a very noisy goose, a duck, and some zebras. A nice way to spend an early afternoon.
